.: We open up to the empty parking lot of The Colosseum in Detroit Michigan. We pan around the sky seems gray, much like the mood of the once great city. We finally come across somebody in the parking lot, it is't as deserted as it appeared. Vigilante is leaning against his bike with a cigarette hanging from his lips lost in thought as he stares at the Colosseum. He takes the cigarette out and lets out a stream of smoke and idly flicks the butt.
You know this used to be a great city. This used to be the center of American manufacturing, the economic heart beat of this country. Now take a look around. You have more abandoned buildings then livable ones. And I am not just talking about houses. There are factories, hospitals, seems like damn near city blocks have been boarded up and left to crumble. People used to come from all around to see Detroit, the home of the automobile. Now this place has more dogs roaming the streets then people. And not enough food to feed either.
Vigilante shakes his head and gives his goatee a tug. He takes another drag from his cigarette as he thinks about what used to be.
The change didn't happen over night, but once it started rolling, there really wasn't anything that could be done to stop it. Now those left here, and some of those who remember the greatness that once stood are left trying to rebuild. It is an uphill battle, but one that they are will to take on, or have no choice but to take on. This city in a lot of ways reminds me a lot of somebody's career.
Again Vigilante takes another drag from his cigarette. He shakes his head from side to side as he exhales and waves a finger in front of his face.
No, it isn't mine. My story is obviously one of triumph, not defeat and destruction like this piece of shit place. My story is not one of a Phoenix to rise from the ashes, mine isn't one of destruction. No this story reminds me a lot of my opponent at Oracle. Vincent Cross.
Vigilante adjust his weight and lifts himself off from resting on his bike and takes a couple of steps and looks around.
Vincent Cross... I have heard the name, but I have just got glimpses of the man. I have heard many adjectives used to describe him.Vigilante starts counting them out on his fingers. Dangerous, Deadly, Amazing, Fantastic, Mesmerizing, Talented. Vigilante again shakes his head from side to side. But what I have seen is a shell of a man who fits those descriptions. No, just like this once great city, Vincent Cross is a once great man. Why Nero hand picked him has her Titan I will never know. What I do know is the man that has been walking the halls of the OW, the man coming out to the ring, the man that calls himself Vincent Cross is just that... a man.
Here in a place of Gods walks a man. This week Cross is tasked with the unenviable task of taking on the Angel of Vengeance, a true God if this federation has one. Cross has to look deep inside himself, he has to find whatever it was that once drove him, he has to move past just being a man. He has to be something other then this shell that he is now. He has to dig deep and become what he once was. Not to win this match, but to just have a chance to survive it. Because there isn't anything that he can do to help him win this match. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a future for Vincent Cross, but he has to want it.
So what is it going to be Vince, do you want it? Do you think that you still have it in you to find? Are you able to reach down and find that monster that you once were? Or is that gone forever?
Vigilante takes another slow deep drag from his cigarette as if thinking about the questions himself.
I want you to find it Vince, I really do. I want to you see step up to the plate and try to take what you want. Nero may have named you her champion. But the fact is that in this match I am the one with the gold around my waist. I am the one that earned my title, it was bestowed apon me for past accomplishments. I am not living in the past, if there is something that I want then I take it, plain and simple. I don't wait for somebody to come along and hand it to me. So this week you have been given and opportunity. You have been given the chance to move a step closer to proving that you are worth something, that the faith that Nero placed in you wasn't misguided. You have an opportunity this week Cross to prove something, not just to me, not just to your fans, not to Nero, but to yourself.
I mean come on Cross you have to know it, you have to know that something is different. This isn't the man that you used to be. You know that you could do better. You have to realize this, and you have to do something to change. You have to decide to make a change yourself, you have to reverse directions. You don't want to end up like this city, you don't want to hit rock bottom. It may not be to late for you to return to your glory and splendor. I believe that you still have it in you Cross, you just have to bring it out.
A smile crosses Vigilante's face as he give lightly strokes his goatee.
Because if you don't bring that out, then I am just going to have to bring that out of you. I am going to turn this match into a fight for your own survival. I am going to push you to your limits Cross, and then I am going to keep pushing. If you want to be able to walk out of the arena on your own two feet then you are going to have to show it to me. And you know that I can do it Cross. You know that I can stand up to you, you know that I can push you. You know that I can take your very best and that I can keep coming. And if you don't know this, or if you don't believe this, then I am going to turn you into a believer.
I don't really care if you are the number one contender for my title Cross or not. Numbers don't really matter to me. For all that I care the title can be on the line, because nobody is going to take this title from me. I earned this title, I want this title, and this title isn't leaving my side. Somebody is going to have to pry this title from my hands. And trust me Cross you aren't the man to do that. Especially not now. Maybe you used to have what it takes to go toe to toe with me, but you don't have it now. But I am going to get something out of you at Oracle, I am going to make you become more than you are. Or I just might kill one of us in trying. Which one do you think that would be Cross?
Vigilante turns his attention back to the arena as he takes a final long drag from his cigarette. He runs his hand over his shaved head as he continues to think about what is going to happen at Oracle. He gives his goatee a final tug as he drops the cigarette and we fade to black. :.
