"Is this a God damn joke?"
Lincoln's Hotel Room
"You expect me to fight a guy who legitimately calls himself 'Roman Gladiator' and keep a straight face?"
July 31, 5:10 PM
[Off-Camera]
The scene opens in Lincoln Everett's hotel room at the Holiday Inn. He's on his cellphone, presumably with some heads at Odyssey Wrestling.
"Well if you honestly think that I'm going to take this match seriously, you've got another thing coming. I'm a wrestler, not some sideshow clown, and I deserve to be wrestling against other professionals, not this circus of freaks that you've put me up against."
The voice on the other side of the line is now loud as well, it sounds faintly like Justice Davro, but it's hard to tell for sure.
"Whatever. I'll be there, but you're testing my patience."
He hangs up the phone and lays back on his bed, turning off the tv which is showing the Olympics out of London. He runs his hand through his hair as there is a knock on his door.
"Who is it?"
"Room Service...you ordered food?"
Lincoln gets up and opens the door, welcoming the gentleman with a cart full of food into the room.
"Everything you asked for is here. Are you planning to entertain?"
Lincoln chuckles. People do joke about how much he can eat without gaining a pound.
"Nah, I have to carbo-load. My training regimen."
The hotel employee looks at the tray full of food and back at Lincoln.
"Well it is quite a bit of food for one person."
"Care to join?"
"I have to finish my shift."
Lincoln nods, handing the employee a fifty dollar bill.
"This will just be billed."
"Nah, that's a tip, bro. I'm not like most people with money."
The employee smiles.
"Very generous of you. We hope you enjoy the rest of your stay with us."
Lincoln nods as the gentleman leaves and closes the door behind him. Lincoln grabs a plate and fork and starts loading his plate with food. After a few minutes he looks at the camera that has just now come in.
[On-Camera]
"Ah, I guess it would be time now to discuss my match, right? ...Ok then. What is there to say, really? My opponent is legitimately called "Roman Gladiator" which makes me wonder if I'm fighting some kid. These fellows at Odyssey better have everything straight. This better be a legitimate competitor. Not like last time."
He takes another bite of his meal, finishes and looks back at the camera.
"And this guy says 'He might watch those movies like Gladiator, but that won't prepare him' and all I can say to that is that I was a boy scout all the way to eagle. I think that I know how to be prepared, considering it was our motto. So don't you worry about my being ready. I've faced off against much tougher than you."
And more food is eaten during a pause in the talking.
"But yet somehow, they make this booking look great. Like I'm still excited to come to work. Score! But seriously, Gladdy, I'm gonna call you Gladdy, you don't frighten me, nor do you frighten anyone on this roster. I'm arguably the best highflier in the pro industry today, and you sit here telling me that you're a threat. I wrestled scarier than you in high school and still came out on top. Now you tell me who should be scared. Me, the best in this company, or you, the deranged mental patient?"
Lincoln gives the camera a concerned look.
"If this booking keeps up, I'd be scared to be this company, because I will become an unstoppable force, and I will bring everything to the table. Because I'm about leaving it all in the ring in every match, and so should you if you want to compete. Otherwise, find another job. I will not have people making a mockery of what I've wanted to do since I was a kindergarten student, watching all the greats. This is absolutely ridiculous. So just be ready OW, because I'm coming for you."
He motions for the camera to leave as he continues eating and turns the tv back on.
